CCCC’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team has been evaluating CSEL programs to formalize our instruction around character and social & emotional learning. At this point, the PBIS team has identified three evidenced-based programs, Lions-Quest, Second Steps, and Caring School Community, all of which align with our goals for developing socially and emotionally competent children.
The following article highlights why social and emotional learning is essential for students: http://www.edutopia.org/blog/why-sel-essential-for-students-weissberg-durlak-domitrovich-gullotta.
For those of you who are interested in previewing the family components of these programs, you may access Lions-Quest and Second Steps at the following web address: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RfdYd0PlBk5Ozp8AD5V1yUMF8LqbXMgukm2MiUnvLmI/edit?usp=sharing.
