~It’s that Time of Year~

Flu and cold season is upon us.  As a review, please note that children who are ill must be kept home until they have recovered sufficiently to return to the regular routine of school.  When a child is too sick to go outside to recess or participate in physical education, that child is too sick to be at school.  A student is clear to return to school when:

  • They have been fever free (without using medication to lower their temperature) for 24 hours prior to their return.
  • They are able to participate comfortably in class activities without a cough or other symptoms becoming a disruption to themselves or others.
  • They must be free of gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours.
  • If they have a skin rash, they must be seen by their health care provider and provide written clearance prior to returning to school.
